The Kid From Red Bank Count Basie, "The Kid From Red Bank," recorded tens of thousands of songs and toured the globe with his orchestra for six decades, winning world wide acclaim for his signature musical style of playing big band - and combo - jazz and blues. Since his passing in 1984, the Basie Orchestra has continued on, led by those former band musicians that shared his passion for the big band style that was uniquely "Basie." This web site and its associated syndicated weekly radio/internet program is dedicated to both his memory and his music. The programs will explore Basie's musical genius from his early days with Bennie Moten's Kansas City Orchestra up until shortly before his death in 1984.
Bob Stockton, host for the series, is a lifelong jazz aficionado and has hosted both local and syndicated jazz programs since 1998, specifically "NIte Jazz With 'Dr.' Bob"(WZNZ), "Jazz At The Beach"(WGSR) and the syndicated program "Jazz At The Beach" which aired in selected U.S. Cities and Australia. Bob currently hosts theweekly syndicated program "Modern Jazz Classics," a two hour weekly program which airs sixteen times each week, reaching a domestic and international audience base of more than 1.8 million.
